CAPE TOWN- SOUTH AFRICA

The Western Cape (Afrikaans: Wes-Kaap)  is a province in South Africa on the south-western coast of the country. It is the diverse and fourth largest province  with an area of 129,449 square kilometres (49,981 sq mi), and the 3rd most populated, with well over 6 million inhabitants ( About two-thirds of these inhabitants live in the metropolitan area of Cape Town). I visited Cape Town and the region in 2010 while still working for the International Council of Design. The city was bidding for the World Design Capital recognition and was was awarded the title for the year 2014 in recognition of its outstanding creative and design sectors.
