WEEKEND IN LISBON

By day the city has a naive theatrical quality that enchants and captivates, but by night it is a fairy-tale city, descending over lighted terraces to the sea, like a woman in festive garments going down to meet her dark lover…

I often hear that “Lisbon is the new Berlin” referring to the dynamics of a city undergoing social and economic changes and focused on innovation and entrepreneurship. The city showcases a vibrant mix of forward-thinking design, rich cultural history and affordable prices. I also often hear ‘Lisbon is the new Barcelona’ referring to its skyrocketing rankings among most recommended and most visited cities in Europe.

Much of that is true, nevertheless I was not expecting to be that impressed. Lisbon is the perfect city for any design enthusiast because it features many interesting contemporary and historic architectures, design shops, outstanding yet affordable restaurants, in addiction to its strong tradition and culture. 

I can say now that Lisbon is one of my favourite European capitals and it was really a beautiful discovery. The city has so much to offer to a photographer hunting for a perfect urban landscape set against the ocean and several hills covered with red roof heritage buildings. Lisbon is a must destination for anyone who loves exploring historic cities and getting lost in the narrow streets while capturing photographs of everyone and everything  around them.
