Beijing, China is a place where future is happening now. For me this was both a professional and personal experience to visit the capital of China and one of the world’s largest mega cities for the World Design Congress hosted at The Giant Egg (巨蛋) – the magnificent National Centre for the Performing Arts (国家大剧院) in the heart of Beijing, designed by French architect Paul Andreu. Its location, immediately to the west of Tiananmen Square and the Great Hall of the People, and near the ancient Forbidden City, combined with the theatre’s futuristic design makes it one of the most remarkable Opera and Arts venue in the world; and an icon of the 21st century China.
